On April 12, 2026, the Autism Walk for Awareness and Acceptance unfolded beneath a steady curtain of rain, transforming what might have been an ordinary community event into something quietly powerful. Participants arrived in rain jackets and carried umbrellas with little ones in strollers—while puddles rippled under their steps. Despite the gray skies, the atmosphere felt warm and determined, as families, friends, and Woman’s Club of Vista members walked side by side, sharing stories, laughter, and moments of reflection. The rain seemed to amplify the message of resilience and unity, symbolizing both the challenges faced by the autism community and the unwavering commitment to understanding, inclusion, and acceptance.

As the walk came to a close, participants were treated to complimentary lemonade coupons from Raising Cane’s and had the opportunity to connect with 29 vendors and exhibitors offering valuable resources and support. The afternoon concluded on a high note with a raffle featuring prizes generously donated by local merchants, sending 40 attendees home as happy winners. Thanks to the incredible support of the community, we raised enough funds to award six nonprofit organizations—each dedicated to serving autistic children and adults—with $620 each. Hosting this event continues to be a true joy, especially as we watch it grow year after year. Be sure to save the date for our next walk on April 11, 2027!
