The Blue Envelope Program is a free program designed to help individuals who have been diagnosed with autism, dementia, anxiety and other special conditions when they come into contact with law enforcement and other community service individuals. It helps to reduce escalations and keep special-needs individuals safer.

When an individual presents a blue envelope to law enforcement, they will know the individual may require additional accommodations during an interaction. The program is designed to promote awareness, better communication, and inclusivity.

The program is fully voluntary, free, and no registration is required. Individuals with special needs can obtain materials at the Vista Sheriff’s Station, 325 S Melrose Dr # 210, Vista, CA 92081. Materials available include a brochure, the envelope, a wallet info card, lanyards, seatbelt covers, buttons, ribbons, keychains, bracelets, and stickers.

Once you have acquired your blue envelope, you can place copies of your ID, contact info, vehicle, info, vehicle registration, and/or proof of insurance.

Blue Envelope program materials will be on hand during the Vista Fun Walk for Autism Awareness and Acceptance.
